In the 2024 Parish Council residents questionnaire the planting of wildflowers somewhere in the Parish was overwhelmingly supported.
After much discussion it was decided that the angled grass verge on Cowgate, on the entrance to Welton, was an ideal location to plant wildflowers. To, hopefully, make the entrance to the village look more attractive and to help reverse the, well documented, dramatic decline in the bee population.
In the last few days Cllrs Paterson and Young, with the help of the local TWITs volunteers, planted 1,000 wildflower plugs in the verge. It was a very big task to create the 1,000 holes, plant the plugs and water them all. A very big thank you to all who helped do this in their spare time. With a little luck we will soon see the wildflowers flourishing so please keep looking as you drive and and out of Welton.
