National Highways Notification - A63 South Cave to North Ferriby
As part of essential safety maintenance, National Highways are going to be replacing the safety barrier and upgrading lighting as well as carrying out essential repairs to the footbridge at Elloughton. Work will commence from mid July until spring 2025.
To undertake the work safely there will be a series of night time closures between 8pm and 6am as well as overnight lane closures, which will alternate between east and westbound. During the day there will be a 40mph speed limit to keep everyone safe.
The Parish Council continues to stay in close contact with National Highways (NH) regarding the A63 central barrier and lighting upgrade project. We understand the ongoing disruption this work has caused, particularly with frequent overnight road closures. Recently, we received an update from NH on the project's progress and estimated completion date.
Please see below some brief comments on the overall scheme progress:- Work is progressing well, and despite losing a number of shifts primarily due to adverse weather we are still more or less on program.
- Our main contractor is currently advising that work is planned to be fully completed by 9 May 2025. The main work is due to be completed in early April 2025, with testing and commissioning to follow and before demobilising the site. However they are confident that with current rates of progress that the work will actually be completed ahead of this date.
- The new central reserve safety barriers should all be completed by the end of March 2025, after which we will lift the speed restriction on the A63 as soon as we can.
